Why Blood Management?
The best place to store a patient’s blood is in the patient. Unfortunately, blood loss is possible during any type of surgery, with some procedures posing more risk than others.
Bleeding can also make the surgeon’s task more difficult by impairing his or her view, which can prolong surgery and further increase the risk of complications.
Continued bleeding after surgery can lead to complications as well, often resulting in added expenses for hospitals and their patients.1-3
