DIRECTOR OF PRODUCT PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT
GENERAL PURPOSE
Lead the evaluation, prioritization and initial implementation of marketing efforts associated with new product/market opportunities that support the Company’s business strategy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with Research & Development, Clinical and Intellectual Property Groups to advance projects that support the Company’s business strategy for identifying new clinical applications for the Company’s platform technology.
- Present new product concept proposals and progress to Product Development Committee.
- Develop models and algorithms that assist with the strategic decision making process to pursue new clinical applications and/or potential product acquisition opportunities.
- Acquire and analyze feedback from key opinion leaders, current and potential customers, third party market research and internal stakeholders.
- Gather market information by conducting primary and secondary marketing research.
- Provide detailed marketing specifications for new products or product improvements for new clinical applications in line with the Company’s established standard operating procedures for new projects.
- Work with physicians to establish clinical feasibility and potential device modifications for the Company’s current platform technology that is required to meet customer needs for new clinical applications.
- Develop evidenced-based processes for analyzing perceived customer value, competitive landscape, and economic potential of new clinical application opportunities.
- Identify and analyze potential alternative sales channel options for new clinical applications.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors Degree in Marketing or related field, MBA desirable.
- 5 to 10 years direct marketing experience within the medical device industry.
- Familiarity with surgical procedures and clinical practices.
- A minimum of 5 years experience interacting with surgeons in an operating room environment.
- Experience with electrosurgical devices desirable.
