SR. PRINCIPAL ENGINEER
GENERAL PURPOSE
Provides a high level of technical support to the concept and product development teams.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide technical input to development efforts utilizing knowledge in the areas of biomedical science and electro surgery
- Maintains an understanding of current technology and competitive efforts in the area electro surgery
- Plans, carries out and summarizes studies both on bench scale and in animals to support the development efforts
- Establishes and maintains active relationships with key opinion leaders
- Mentors and seeks to continually increase the technical knowledge of R&D staff
- Establishes self as Salient Surgical’s technology expert and possesses a clear understanding of its intellectual property
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and experience:
- 4 year degree in engineering or related field with a high level of expertise in electro surgery
- Biomedical Engineering degree highly desirable
- Experience in medical device industry with the ability to effectively interact with surgeons
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and comprehend highly complex technical subjects and issues; proven creativity and ability to think conceptually at a high level
- Ability to effectively interact and communicate with others both verbally and in written form
- Basic knowledge of quality, engineering and manufacturing principles
- Personal drive to continually meet or exceed objectives
